General Mohamed Salah, Minister of Military Production, met Mr Robert Valk, Founder and CEO of Green Tech Egypt and Renergy Group Partners; Mr Ali Al-Dhaheri, CEO of UAE-based Tadweer, a wholly owned ADQ subsidiary; and Mr Talal Al Zain of Bahrain, an advisory-board member of Renergy Group Partners.
The meeting at the Ministry of Military Production’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital reviewed progress on Egypt’s first waste-to-energy plant.
Project capacity and partners
The Abu Rawash plant in Giza Governorate is planned to process 1,200 tons of municipal solid waste each day and generate 30 MW of electricity per hour. It is a collaboration between the Ministry of Military Production, Green Tech Egypt and OAK Holding, intended to strengthen Egypt’s climate security and improve living conditions.
Implementation review
Minister Mohamed Salah highlighted the ministry’s commitment to national projects that promote sustainable development and environmental investment.
Mr Robert Valk welcomed the coordination between the partners and the Egyptian government’s work to expand clean energy. Mr Mohamed Eid Bakr, media advisor to the Minister of State for Military Production, said the meeting formed part of a series of reviews intended to support successful implementation.
