“The Minister of State for Military Production” receives the Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Green Tech Egypt”. Within the framework of the periodic follow-up to the project of establishing a station for converting solid waste to electric power in Abu Rawash

Engineer/ Mr Mohamed Salah El-Din Mustafa, Minister of State for Military Production, received Mr Robert Valk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Green Tech Egypt” and Mr Eslam Ramadan, Director of the Company and Executive Director of “Renergy Group Partners”, at the General Office of the Ministry of Military Production.

The Minister of State for Military Production indicated that this meeting comes to discuss the latest developments with Renergy Group Partners regarding establishing a plant for the treatment of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and converting it into electrical energy in the Abu Rawash area in the Giza governorate. In light of the implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic. The Prime Minister and the ministries concerned with the new solid waste system file, as waste recycling and the transition to clean energy are among the measures that contribute to preserving the environment and adapting to climate change, in addition to the health return it achieves for citizens. The Ministry of Military Production endeavours to employ all the industrial, technological and human capabilities available to implement major national projects that improve citizens’ lives.

Minister “Mohamed Salah” explained that this important project is being carried out within the framework of the protocol signed between the Ministries of Military Production, Local Development, Environment and the Giza Governorate for cooperation and coordination regarding the allocation of land in the Abu Rawash area in Giza Governorate for the project that aims to transfer waste with a capacity of (1200) tons / a day to produce electricity at an amount of (30) megawatts per hour, stressing that the ministry is constantly seeking to integrate with the various ministries, governorates and authorities in the country to support comprehensive and sustainable development strategies and project.

For his part, Mr Robert Valk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Green Tech Egypt, expressed his aspiration to activate cooperation and implement this project as soon as possible, which contributes to improving the environmental, health and living conditions of citizens, reducing pollution rates and establishing a national waste management industry. In addition, it will provide job opportunities, stressing the keenness to overcome any challenges that may arise in implementing the project.

Mr Valk added that this project would provide knowledge transfer and brings advanced and modern technology industry to Egypt through an exceptional partnership between the public and private sectors where the industry of equipment will be localized within the factories of the Ministry of Military Production, pointing out that the knowledge transfer of this modern industry is not limited to technology only. Still, it also includes operation and maintenance. One of the goals of “Green Tech Egypt” is to bring modern technology and industry to Egypt and transform the waste problem into innovative solutions to generate energy and protect the environment for future generations.

The media advisor to the Minister of State for Military Production and the official spokesman for the ministry, Mr Mohamed Eid Bakr, stated that the cooperation of the Ministry of Military Production with the private sector to implement this project comes within the framework of its keenness to transfer modern technologies in the various fields of manufacturing within its companies and units, and cooperation with specialized national and international companies. The waste management field is implementing these projects to deepen local industrialization and localization of modern global technologies.

Mr Bakr noted that the meeting was attended by the Military Production Engineer/ Mr Emile Helmy Elias, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Authority for Military Production and the Managing Director and Engineer/ Mr Muhammad Sherine Muhammad, the supervisor of the central administration for the affairs of the Minister’s Office, and the Engineer/ Mr Mounir Helal, Head of the Technical Follow-up Sector at the National Authority for military production.
